This is the unofficial guide to getting over a heartbreak. I have gone through multiple heartbreaks, and I can tell you this is how you move on.
Cry your eyes out
Don’t try to be tough. Don’t try to hold it in. Healing has different phases, and this is just one of them. If you want to cry, then cry. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you have to be tough and suck it up. There’s a relief that comes from letting our pain out.
I just started Journaling, and it has helped me find clarity. Grab your journal and write the following;
-Now that this relationship is over, I feel_____. Write down how you feel. Sad, depressed, upset, overwhelmed.
-This relationship ended because____. Write down why you feel the relationship ended.
-Getting over this pain is hard because____ write down why you feel getting over the emotional heartbreak is tough
Don’t blame yourself
Journaling will reveal to you whom you blame for the breakup. If you blame yourself, stop it. Blaming yourself will only diminish your self-worth and ruin your next relationship. You need your confidence to be high.
If you miss your ex, don’t be too hard on yourself.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve picked up the phone to call an ex because I felt I couldn’t do without him. It never went well. If you find yourself missing your ex, realize that it is normal and don’t beat yourself up. A year after breaking up with my bf, I still miss him when I go to the cinemas (we used to go there together all the time)
Accept that it is over
Living in denial will hurt you so much, and I don’t want you to get hurt. Accept that the relationship is over and start making plans to heal your hurt. I lived in denial for a long time and held on to hopes that never existed. It hurt my sanity and made me cry every day. You don’t deserve to go through that.
Go out of the house
There’s a world out there waiting to meet you and people wanting to know you. Even though you don’t feel like it, step out of the house. Grab a cup of coffee, walk down the road, just step out
Realize that the universe has your back.
Everything is continually working out for your Good. Out of every situation, only good will come out. I want you to believe that, and focus on the bright side of life. You’ll be fine; I trust you will be fine.
